{"id":2114,"date":"2020-08-10T08:21:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-10T03:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/payantitr.ir\/en\/?p=2114"},"modified":"2020-08-11T00:35:20","modified_gmt":"2020-08-10T20:05:20","slug":"us-interests-behind-pgccs-irresponsible-position","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/payantitr.ir\/en\/us-interests-behind-pgccs-irresponsible-position\/","title":{"rendered":"US interests behind PGCC\u2019s \u2018irresponsible\u2019 position"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" src=\"http:\/\/payantitr.ir\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Abbas-Mousavi.jpg\" alt=\"payantitr: Abbas Mousavi\" class=\"wp-image-342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/payantitr.ir\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Abbas-Mousavi.jpg 620w, https:\/\/payantitr.ir\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Abbas-Mousavi-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>TEHRAN, Aug. 10 (<a href=\"https:\/\/payantitr.ir\/en\/us-interests-behind-pgccs-irresponsible-position\/\">Payantitr <\/a>News Agency) \u2013 Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi vehemently condemned the anti-Iranian statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) regarding UN arms embargo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reaction by Mousavi came after the PGCC\u2019s Secretariat announced that the council\u2019s newly appointed secretary general had demanded an arms embargo on Iran be extended and levelled several accusations against the Islamic Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In comments on Sunday, Mousavi expressed regret at the unconstructive approach adopted by certain PGCC members vis-\u00e0-vis the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, it seems that the so-called Persian Gulf Cooperation Council has turned into a spokesperson for some narrow-minded people both inside the council and outside the region, and that the council\u2019s secretariat, swayed by the wrong and destructive policies and behaviour of certain member states, has turned into a mouthpiece for anti-Iran elements,\u201d said the spokesman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe PGCC, which is at the apex of its incompetence, and whose internecine differences as well as unrealistic policies have rendered the council ineffective, has, with this move, led to ignoring realities in the region and turning a blind eye to realities and priorities at this sensitive juncture,\u201d Mousavi noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe irresponsible statement by the secretary general has been dictated and issued unilaterally at a time when some members of the council have not stopped purchasing and stockpiling weapons even at a time of economic problems, and are among the biggest buyers of arms in the region and in the world,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIndubitably, the United States\u2019 interests are contingent upon further sales of weapons to these countries with such approaches and empty claims,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe killing of defenceless people and children in Yemen is a textbook example of wrong policies adopted by certain PGCC members, which have resulted in Yemeni people being killed every day before the eyes of the world by different Western weapons by leaders of this very council,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MAH\/MFA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TEHRAN, Aug. 10 (Payantitr News Agency) \u2013 Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi vehemently condemned the anti-Iranian statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) regarding UN arms embargo.&hellip;
